Submission Guidelines
We are currently accepting artist submissions and proposals.
Response time will vary. We will try to get a response to you within a month of receiving your submission. We would recommend that if you haven’t heard from us after two months, send us an e-mail inquiry.
The COMPOUND Studios & Gallery is an artist run space that endeavors to provoke innovative ideas in an atmosphere full of swarming and bristling creativity. We exhibit the work of both emerging and established artists. Acceptable media includes (but is not limited to) drawing, installation, painting, mixed performance/installation, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
Artists
We encourage all media. Please send a link to digital images (website/portfolio). Also include a bio and artist statement. DO NOT send digital photos. Please DO NOT send original artwork.
Curators
The proposal must have a concept or theme. There must be three or more artists chosen for the exhibition, with five to 10 digital images for each artist. Please DO NOT send digital images, but rather group the images on a website and send a link. The artworks represented in the proposal should be the same artworks for the exhibition. The participating artists must primarily reside in the Bay Area, with the possibility of one third of the artists living outside of the Bay Area. Acceptable media includes drawing, installation, painting, mixed performance/installation, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The submission will need to include a curatorial statement, a press release, and the names and contact information of all the participating individuals. Please include links to images of artworks (titled to match description sheet), description sheet for images (title, dimensions, media, dates, and price for each work.
