We are pleased to announce a new Interdisciplinary Art Residency Program at The Compound Gallery & Studios!
We are offering six month residencies with complete FREE access to all our facilities (see below) including flat file storage, bench (wood/metalshop), and locker space to store your creative tools. Artists in Residence also have the option of taking all workshops we offer for free.
Our goal is to give artists the opportunity to expand his/her art practice by providing access to a variety of equipment in an inspiring and creative environment. Artists with an interest in interdisciplinary work will be considered first. Residencies are for 6 months and application deadlines are March 1st or September 1st, depending on which session is current. Two artists will be chosen for each session. Recipients of the residency will have full access to the facilities for six months with no additional fees and 24 hour access. We do not offer housing.
We are excited to be partnering with the celebrated Ex’pression College for Digital Arts, and we encourage Ex’pression staff and faculty to apply, as we will also select a faculty/staff member from Ex’pression College each session to be an artist in residence at The Compound Studios.
- Spring/Summer Residency: April 1st-October 1st (deadline to apply is March 1st)
- Fall/Winter Residency: October 1st-April 1st (deadline to apply is September 1st)
The online application includes: an artist’s statement, c.v., bio, proposed projects, and links to website/images. Artists are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours a week on his/her projects at The Compound Gallery. Artists must have some proficiency with equipment used, although some training is provided to encourage interdisciplinary practice. Applications will be reviewed and artists will be notified of acceptance (or otherwise) via email by March 15th or September 15th, depending on which session is active.
Artists in Residence will also have the opportunity to show work in our Artists Gallery (curated by Alison O.K. Frost), sell work in our Special Collections & Print Lounge, and work with other projects at The Compound Gallery. Artists in Residence will also be listed on our website.
