The Compound Gallery is excited to present a new solo show by artist David Fullarton, “Everything’s Getting Worse and I’m Not Helping”. This mixed media exhibition runs from August 30 – October 12.

David Fullarton is a San Francisco based artist who creates mixed media drawings that combine images with text. He investigates themes that are rooted in the human condition and address the banality and absurdity of everyday existence. He uses uncompromising wit and dark humor to ruthlessly skewer contemporary neuroses. In the process he highlights the shared humanity in our individual anxieties, troubles and joys.

This exhibition represents the latest chapter in Fullarton’s ongoing but increasingly futile quest to find a modicum of amusement in humanity’s headlong plunge into calamity. The creation of these mixed media pieces has been his way of coping with the daily torrent of unbearably grim news, as well an attempt to provide some irreverent perspective on the idiocy that engulfs us. His hope is that the resulting droll dissection of the current existential malaise might offer a glimmer of humorous relief as we struggle to make sense of our ever deteriorating plight.

Exhibition Dates: Aug 30-Oct 12
Location: The Compound Gallery, 1339 61st st. Emeryville, CA 94608
