We are proud to announce a solo show by Bill Walker titled “Playhouse” – A toy maker’s roll call for all the characters throughout history who informed his own Transgender identity. Technicolor puppets of all shapes and sizes capture the gender bending, body horror, euphoria, rage, power, and filthy humor that is the Queer and Trans legacy.

Bill Walker is a multi-disciplinary artist creating works in acrylic, oil, ink, wood, paper, fiber, and film. A self taught painter, Bill learned woodworking during summer jobs with his uncle Tony Hayden, a fine furniture maker, and began operating out of friends’ garages as a roving art studio. Throughout the years, Bill has been a member of The Compound Gallery, shown with Stockton’s The Unknowns, collaborated with folding bones press in Sebastopol, CA, designed labels for Henhouse Brewing, and is a frequent contributor to Drawn to Culture. In 2020, Bill created BT Grindhouse, a film collective with Ty Jacob and Alester Beltran to make horror films with fellow artists. He is currently a member of Chicago Industrial Arts & Design Center in Chicago, IL and Elsewhere Studios in Paonia, CO. Bill believes in bodily autonomy, creative freedom, trans liberation, and a future with no cops, which he hopes to achieve by keeping art and education accessible through skill sharing and mutual aid.

The artist, now in his 30s and still very irreverent, resides in Chicago, IL, where he spends his time eating corndogs and painting in his home studio.
