The Weight of a Blessing
New work by Tim Belonax
September 5th-October 18th, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 5th 6-9pm
Most days move too fast to let you notice the quiet bit of life sitting inside an object. Something has to make you stop and look again. Tim Belonax’s new work wrestles with alternate possibilities, unraveling the complexity behind the simple. An arcade token becomes a reminder of personal value. Packing tape reveals its emotional labor. The inspiration, labor, and histories behind pieces are brought to the forefront, instead of hiding away. Revisiting his work from formative years at CalArts and Facebook’s Analog Research Lab, this collection rubs shoulders with Belonax’s education in graphic design, bringing feelings into physical form through print and collage. These works aren’t built to be scrolled past. They ask for the kind of attention only a hand can earn, proof that the reward is in the process, not just what’s left behind on the page or screen.
Born and raised in California, Tim has found creative refuge at the Compound since becoming a member in 2016. This is his second solo show at the gallery.
