Liam Golden and Kat Kazlauskas in the Artist Gallery
We are pleased to show the work of Liam Golden and Kat Kazlauskas (shown above), who both just completed the Spring/Summer 2014 interdisciplinary artist residency at The Compound Gallery. Their work will be up from September 20th-October 26th.
Liam Golden was born in San Francisco. He has delivered sandwiches to offices, coordinated large international shipments of paper, studied printmaking in Edinburgh; became a publican in Morocco, slept on trains, sold hot dogs in New Orleans. He is a regular illustrator for The Rumpus, a musician and bookmaker. He has exhibited, curated, taught, and performed locally and internationally.
Kat has been making sculpture and glass objects since she stumbled into a glass studio and, shortly after, a sculpture class in 2006. These chance meetings with materials and processes inspired her to switch paths and pursue double majors in Art Practice and Rhetoric, focused on image and narrative, at UC Berkeley. While there, she was granted an Honors’ Studio in Art Practice. She graduated in 2009. A few twists and turns aside, some life and lots of travel, Kat has since been focused on honing her glassmaking process and expanding her repertoire to include lighting design and printmaking. She works out of her studio at Public Glass, a non-profit public glass studio in San Francisco. She works with glass, wood, metal, paper and found objects.
