Tempered Fragility

New Work by Reem Rahim
(May 1-May 31)

Afternoon Tea: Sunday, May 17th  3-6pm

Journal entries that tuned into a series of quick-gestural studies on Degas’ ballerinas transformed into a deliberation of awkward, protagonist women, juxtaposed in various emotions and states of being. Underlying, they symbolize the tenuous, self-conscious balance between vulnerability, composure and transparency. Patterns interest me as they, too, are a medium for transparency. Stretched, they expose our discomforts, question our identity and implicate our thoughts and feelings within the greater context of impermanence and fragility.
